Recap: Cherry Hill East Cougars vs. Cherry Hill West Lions
It was a good run, but The Cherry Hill East Cougars unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 29-28 to Cherry Hill West. Cherry Hill East lost against Cherry Hill West in their previous head to head back in October of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 54-13 score last time.
When it comes to explaining why Cherry Hill East lost, one person who can't be blamed is Denzel Lee. Despite the final result, he rushed for 172 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.8 yards per carry, and also picked up 36 receiving yards. Lee hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for four straight games.
Cherry Hill East now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Cherry Hill West, their victory bumped their record up to 2-7.
Cherry Hill East will be playing at home against Overbrook at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Jersey (Overbrook is ranked 240th, while Cherry Hill East is ranked 230th). Cherry Hill West does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
