Softball Recap: Saturday's Loss Ends Bonita Vista's Winning Streak

Bonita Vista dropped their record down to 25-7 on Saturday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell 6-1 to the Mater Dei Catholic Crusaders. The Barons were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Crusaders earlier this season, when they won 4-1.

Bonita Vista saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ariana Magdaleno, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

As for Mater Dei Catholic, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games.

On Mater Dei Catholic's side, not much got past Arri Romero, who gave up just nine hits to keep Bonita Vista off the board. Romero has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gianna 'Gigi' Flores, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Maya Matthies was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs.

As of now, neither Bonita Vista nor Mater Dei Catholic have any future games scheduled.
