Softball Recap: Five Straight Road Victories for Voorhees

Voorhees waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Rutgers Prep Argonauts as they made off with an 11-4 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-0 on Tuesday.

Voorhees let Ali Leibensperger and Christina Sullivan run wild. Leibensperger went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Sullivan went 3-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Those three hits gave Sullivan a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ella Lagomarsino, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Voorhees kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matchups.

Voorhees' win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-5. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Rutgers Prep, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.

Voorhees will be playing at home against Ewing at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Rutgers Prep, they are taking a road trip to square off against Peddie at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. The Falcons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed ten runs per game on average), something the Argonauts will no doubt try to take advantage of.
