Softball Recap: Ironwood Eagles vs. Lake Havasu Knights
Ironwood extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 9-15 in the process. They lost 14-1 to the Lake Havasu Knights. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-7 on Thursday.
Ironwood saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madelaine Gober, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.
As for Lake Havasu, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-11. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.
On Lake Havasu's side, Haley Martin made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off eight hits. Martin has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Lake Havasu got a massive performance out of Peyton Glomboski, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Those three runs gave Glomboski a new career-high. Vivian Velazquez was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.
Coming up, Ironwood will welcome Paradise Valley at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Trojans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.44 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Lake Havasu, they will venture away from home to square off against Mountain Pointe at 3:45 p.m. on Monday.
