The Westview Chargers will head out on the road to face off against the Dyer County Choctaws at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Westview's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Union City as Westview made off with a 15-0 victory. The Chargers have beaten the Golden Tornadoes the last seven times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Golden Tornadoes has come to flipping the script.
McCall Sims made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Sims was also big at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Westview got a massive performance out of Lakyn Rogers, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance gave Rogers a new career-high in stolen bases. Tanyla Ward was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-3.
Meanwhile, Dyer County had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by an 8-0 margin over the Cougars. That eight run margin sets a new team best for the Choctaws this season.
Rylee Key made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Key was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kierstyn Ray, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Emma Wray, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Westview pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for Dyer County, their record now sits at 3-1.
Westview couldn't quite finish off Dyer County when the teams last played back in March of 2024 and fell 8-6. Can Westview avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
