Baseball Recap: Houghton Falls to Marquette in First Game of Season

Houghton had to start their season on the road on Saturday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They lost 11-1 to the Marquette Redmen. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it five in a row.

The victory (which was Marquette's third in a row) raised their record to 5-1.

Looking ahead, Houghton will head out on the road to square off against Hancock at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Marquette, they will welcome Alpena at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Wildcats' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Redmen's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
