Soccer Recap: Taft Comes Up Short

Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Friday. Taft fell just short of Jones by a score of 3-2. If Taft was looking for revenge after losing 8-0 to Jones when the teams met back in March of 2019, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Daniella Gomez and Juliette Popelka scored both of Taft's goals, bringing their combined season tally to eight goals.

The defeat snapped Taft's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-4-1 record. As for Jones, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-3-2 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Taft will challenge Whitney Young at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Jones, they will face off against Lincoln Park at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Jones' defense better be ready for this one: Lincoln Park have averaged an impressive 5.8 goals per game this season.
