Rocklin is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Friday. They will host the St. Francis Troubadours at 4:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Rocklin has eight straight victories, St. Francis has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Monday, Rocklin made easy work of Bella Vista and carried off a 9-3 win. The Thunder might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by six runs or more this season.

Payton Prior was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off 11 hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Katie Wetteland was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Savannah Lorenzini was another key player, scoring three runs while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for St. Francis' offense. They lost 8-0 to Pioneer on Thursday. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Troubadours were not able to get on the board.
St. Francis saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Marissa Jensen, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
Rocklin pushed their record up to 8-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for St. Francis, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.
St. Francis' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Rocklin has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .467. It's a different story for St. Francis, though, as they've only averaged .335. Will they be able to contain Rocklin's hitters?
Rocklin might still be hurting after the 14-1 loss they got from St. Francis in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can Rocklin avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
