It was a good run, but Loyola unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They came up short against the Mira Costa Mustangs, falling 11-0. If the Cubs were looking for revenge after losing 4-2 to the Mustangs when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Loyola got a good showing from Danny Portillo, who tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Loyola's defeat dropped their record down to 13-5. As for Mira Costa, the win was the 14th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-2.

Loyola and Mira Costa should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Cubs will challenge La Salle at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (28 vs. 96). Meanwhile, Mira Costa (ranked 37th) will meet Palos Verdes (ranked 468th) at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
