Suggested Video

Savanna has been away from home for two games now, but on Friday they'll finally make their return. They will host the Pioneer Titans at 6:30 p.m.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 53-18, which was the final score in Savanna's tilt against Anaheim on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Rebels in their matchups with the Colonists: they've now lost six in a row.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Fabrissio Ramirez, who picked up 144 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 79 yards. Nate Eich was another key signal caller, throwing for 263 yards and two touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pioneer). They blew past Bassett 55-0 at home on Thursday. Considering the Titans have won three contests by more than 35 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Pioneer had a senior duo take command as Amiri Resendiz threw for 88 yards and three touchdowns on perfect 6-for-6 passing and Adrian Lopez rushed for 108 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries. Those 108 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Lopez. Backing up that air attack was Damian Salguero, who rushed for 87 yards.

Savanna's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Pioneer, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Friday's matchup might be decided in the on the ground. Savanna has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 190.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Pioneer struggles in that department as they've been averaging 161. It's looking like Friday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
