Soccer Game Preview: Hillcrest vs. Layton Christian Academy

Hillcrest is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Friday. They will be defending their home pitch for the first time this season when they go up against the Layton Christian Academy Eagles at 3:30 p.m. Hillcrest's last three matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Things were looking good for Hillcrest after they put the first points on the board last Wednesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. While the 2-2 score might suggest a draw, it was West Jordan who was credited with the victory. West Jordan got it done in the shootout by posting six goals to Hillcrest's five. The loss was the Huskies' first of the season.

Joseth Meza and Bridger Healy scored both of Hillcrest's goals, bringing their combined season tally to five goals.

Layton Christian Academy is likely headed into the game with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Lone Peak on Wednesday. Layton Christian Academy fell just short of Lone Peak by a score of 3-2. The loss was the Eagles' first of the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Layton Christian Academy fell to 2-1. As for Hillcrest, their loss was their first of the season and also makes their record 2-1.

Hillcrest might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Layton Christian Academy when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can Hillcrest avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
