Preview: Alexander Cougars vs. New Manchester Jaguar
Alexander is 9-1 against New Manchester since December of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Alexander Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the New Manchester Jaguar at 7:30 p.m. Alexander is looking to tack on another W to their ten-game streak on the road.
Alexander posted their biggest victory since December 15, 2023 on Friday. They really took it to Paulding County for the full four quarters, racking up a 80-50 win at home. Given Alexander's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while Paulding County is ranked 247th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Alexander got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Allen Stoddard out in front who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Stoddard is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Braedan Lue, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, New Manchester was able to grind out a solid win over Paulding County on Saturday, taking the game 54-42. The win made it back-to-back wins for New Manchester.
Alexander's record now sits at 17-2. New Manchester's record is now 8-10.
Alexander strolled past New Manchester in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a score of 82-65. The rematch might be a little tougher for Alexander since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
