ARS/Rescue Rooter National Hoopfest announces field for Maryland event

Breaking down the national contenders heading into the 2018-19 season.

Some of high school basketball's best will go head-to-head in December at the ARS/Rescue Rooter National Hoopfest in Maryland.

Keith Stevens of Team Takeover and event director Travis Haddock teamed to put together a loaded event, set for Dec. 7-9 at DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville.

Five of the top 11 teams in our preseason Top 25 will be featured in the first National Hoopfest event of 2018-19.

The ARS/Rescue Rooter National Hoopfest will put on four events throughout the season, moving on to Dallas, (Dec. 14-15), Memphis, Tenn., (Jan. 4-5) and Tampa, Fla. (Feb. 1-2).

While the featured game of the four-part series will be No. 1 Montverde Academy (Montverde, Fla.) vs. No. 2 Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, Va.) at the Tampa event Feb. 2, the Maryland event will also feature a pair of showdowns between Top 10 foes.

5:15 p.m. — No. 7 Sunrise Christian Academy vs. Holy Spirit Prep
7:00 p.m. — No. 1 Montverde Academy vs. No. 11 Paul VI (Fairfax, Va.)
8:45 p.m. — No. 6 DeMatha (Hyattsville, Md.) vs. No. 3 IMG Academy

Sunday, Dec. 9
12 p.m. — Eighth grade all-star game
5:15 p.m. — No. 11 Paul VI vs. Nicolet
7 p.m. — No. 6 DeMatha vs. Roman Catholic
