Recap: Clovis Wildcats vs. Lovington Wildcats

On Tuesday, the Clovis Wildcats faced the Lovington Wildcats in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Clovis walked away with a 67-55 victory over Lovington. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.

Zarai Lewis was her usual excellent self, scoring 31 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The matchup was her third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kailyn Jefferson, who scored 14 points.

Clovis' victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.2 points per game. As for Lovington, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-4.

Clovis will take on Espanola Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Espanola Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New Mexico Rankings (they are ranked 40th, while Clovis is ranked sixth). Lovington and Ruidoso will face off at 4:30 p.m. on January 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
