Football Game Preview: Boyd Yellowjackets vs. Paradise Panthers

Boyd and Paradise are an even 5-5 against one another since October of 2015, but not for long. The Yellowjackets will head out on the road to face off against the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Boyd has given up an average of 28.2 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Boyd is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 31 points two weeks ago, they were much more limited against Peaster on Friday. They had to suffer through a 36-7 loss at the hands of the Greyhounds. The Yellowjackets haven't had much luck with the Greyhounds recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Even if they lost, Boyd's defensive line still kept up the pressure with four sacks. Jess Withers was especially locked on to Peaster's QB and sacked him 2.5 times. Withers is becoming a predictor of Boyd's success: when he posts at least one sack the team is 3-1 (and 2-3 when he doesn't).

Meanwhile, Paradise came tearing into Friday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.8 points), and they left with even more momentum. They came within six points of losing the streak, but they secured a 20-14 W against the Lions. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 169th, while the Lions are ranked 503rd) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Boyd's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Paradise, their win bumped their record up to 8-1.

Boyd was dealt a bruising 42-14 defeat at the hands of Paradise in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. Can the Yellowjackets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
