Carrollton proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by three) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the New Philadelphia Quakers 3-2. This was payback for the Warriors, who suffered a 3-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (109-99) Carrollton actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 20-25, 12-25, 25-21, 16-14.

Haley Leslie paced Carrollton's offense, picking up 11 kills. Leslie got some help from Emma Shafer and her 16 assists. Rhemee Beadnell controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Despite the defeat, New Philadelphia had strong showings from Aubrie Watson, who had 12 digs and one assist, and Kaitrin Burnworth, who had 17 digs and five aces. Raegan Kasper also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

Carrollton's victory ended a three-match drought at home and bumped them up to 11-11. As for New Philadelphia, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season.

Carrollton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-2 loss against Minerva on the 14th. As for New Philadelphia, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Zanesville on the 13th.
