Basketball Game Preview: Waverly Vikings vs. Blair Bears

The Waverly Vikings will be taking part in a tournament against the Blair Bears at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The timing is sure in Waverly's favor as the team sits on 13 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Blair has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.

Waverly will bounce into Saturday's match after beating York, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Waverly came out on top against York by a score of 43-30 last Thursday.

Waverly had a senior duo take command as Parker Christiansen posted 12 points and Annie Harms had ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tatum Mcintire, who earned five points.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Blair's strategy against Hastings on Friday. Blair was the clear victor by a 51-25 margin over Hastings. The Bears pushed the score to 38-18 by the end of the third, a deficit the Tigers had little chance of recovering from.

Waverly better keep an eye on Addie Sullivan. She was instrumental in Blair's win, putting up 21 points. Another player making a difference was Cadence Field, who posted eight points.

Waverly's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Blair, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.

Waverly took their win against Blair when the teams last played last Tuesday by a conclusive 47-24. Will Waverly repeat their success, or does Blair have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
