Softball Recap: Bishop O'dowd's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak at Home

Bishop O'Dowd dropped their record down to 16-7 on Thursday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins at home. They lost 14-3 to the Castro Valley Trojans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-3 back in March.

Jaella Mercado made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games she's played.

As for Castro Valley, they pushed their record up to 16-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won 11 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

On Castro Valley's side, Miley Snellgrove was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. Snellgrove was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Alyssa Green was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run and three runs. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Zaylee Gutierrez was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run.

Coming up, Bishop O'Dowd will be taking part in a tournament against Alameda on Wednesday. Castro Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
