Football Recap: Bertie Takes a Loss

Bertie was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took an 18-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Washington County Panthers. The game was a 6-6 toss-up at halftime, but the Falcons couldn't quite close it out.

The critical scores for Washington County came from Symir Jenkins, Ishawn Fuller, and Brandon Spruill.

Bertie's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Washington County, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bertie will host Currituck County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Knights will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last. As for Washington County, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Wake Prep Academy at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th.
