Basketball Recap: West Prairie Piles Up the Points Against Peoria Heights

West Prairie won the last time they faced Peoria Heights and things went their way on Tuesday too. The West Prairie Cyclones blew past the Peoria Heights Patriots 58-21. With the Cyclones ahead 38-6 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Despite the defeat, Peoria Heights saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Sylvia Thornton posted 14 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. That was a full 66.7% of Peoria Heights' points, marking the 18th time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points.

The victory was the third in a row for West Prairie, bringing their record for this year to 5-23. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.3 points over those games. As for Peoria Heights, they dropped their record down to 0-29 with the loss, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Prairie will venture away from home to take on Lewistown at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Peoria Heights, they are taking a road trip to challenge Henry-Senachwine at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
