Soccer Game Preview: Englewood vs. Middle Park

The Englewood Pirates will head out to square off against the Middle Park Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a eight-game winning streak alive.

Englewood's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 win over Bennett. Give Englewood's defense some credit: that's the team's eighth straight shutout.

Their one-goal win came courtesy of Emily Moreno, which was the first she's scored this season.

Meanwhile, Middle Park made easy work of Arrupe Jesuit on Monday and carried off a 5-0 victory. Middle Park might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by three goals or more this season.

Middle Park pushed their record up to 10-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 36 goals over those six games. As for Englewood, their win bumped their record up to 10-1-2.

Englewood couldn't quite get it done against Middle Park when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 2-0. Can the Pirates avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
