Baseball Recap: Belen Jesuit Gets the Win

It may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Belen Jesuit ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over the Coral Park Rams. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Wolverines as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Belen Jesuit got a great performance from Max Aspuru as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over 4.2 innings pitched. Aspuru has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Danny Lopez was excellent, going 3-for-5 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Amauri Gonzalez, who scored a run while going 2-for-5.

Belen Jesuit kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Belen Jesuit's victory bumped their record up to 11-13. As for Coral Park, they dropped their record down to 3-18 with the loss, which was their 19th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Belen Jesuit will square off against TERRA Environmental at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Coral Park, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, an 11-8 defeat against Southwest on the 10th.
