Basketball Recap: Lyman Memorial Takes a Loss

Lyman Memorial was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 13th straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Canton Warriors and fell 89-34. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 174th, while the Warriors are ranked 40th).

When it comes to explaining why Lyman Memorial lost, don't look at Kevin Botticello. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 17 points and 13 boards. Botticello's evening made it ten games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Theo Taylor, who posted eight points and seven rebounds.

Lyman Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 1-16. As for Canton, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.

Coming up, Lyman Memorial will host Ellis RVT at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Canton, they are taking a road trip to take on East Hampton at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
