Baseball Recap: Northern Lebanon's Victory on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Northern Lebanon won the last time they faced Annville-Cleona and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Vikings came out on top against the Dutchmen by a score of 5-2. The victory was nothing new for the Vikings as they're now sitting on four straight.

Adrian Gonzalez made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI.

Gonzalez wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Blake Burdick, who went 2-for-3 with two runs. Those two runs gave Burdick a new career-high.

Northern Lebanon pushed their record up to 18-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Annville-Cleona, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-8.

Looking ahead, Northern Lebanon will host Ephrata at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Mountaineers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Vikings' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Annville-Cleona, they will venture away from home to take on Hempfield at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Black Knights will roll in looking for their 19th straight victory, something the Dutchmen surely won't give up without a fight.
