Football Recap: Lafayette Triumphs Behind Punishing Ground Game + How To Watch

After losing to Suwannee the last time they met, Lafayette decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Hornets came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 37-30 on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hornets.

Tywan K Williamson went supernova, throwing for 184 yards and four touchdowns, while also rushing for 132 yards on only 15 carries. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in October of 2024. Another player making a difference was Tucker Higginbotham, who picked up 23 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Lafayette was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 319 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Suwannee only rushed for 178 rushing yards.

Despite the loss, Suwannee still got an impressive performance from Lj Smith, who rushed for 139 yards and two scores while picking up 8.7 yards per carry.

Lafayette's record is now 2-0. As for Suwannee, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Lafayette has already played their next game, a 47-22 victory against Hamilton County on the 5th. As for Suwannee, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 49-14 loss against Madison County on the 5th.
