Recap: Oconee County Warriors vs. Stephens County Indians
The Oconee County Warriors lost against the Stephens County Indians back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Oconee County fell just short of Stephens County by a score of 17-14. While losing is never fun, Oconee County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 142nd, while Stephens County is ranked 29th).
Although Oconee County took the loss, they still got scores from Caiden Wood and Mac Ricks.
Oconee County's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 3-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-0 Jefferson and 9-0 North Oconee (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 76.4% over those games). As for Stephens County, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.
Oconee County will be playing in front of their home fans against Franklin County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Franklin County comes in on a streak of failing to score more than seven points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Stephens County, they will head out on the road to face off against Hebron Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Devon Caldwell and Javin Gordon.
