Recap: Chanute Blue Comets vs. Labette County Grizzlies
The Chanute Blue Comets can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. It was close, but they ultimately received the gift of a 42-39 win from a begrudging Blue Cometssquad. The win was just what they needed coming off of a 62-39 loss in their prior game.
Despite the defeat, Labette County had strong showings from Landry Obrien, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals, and Nevaeh Jones, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds. Jones scored a full 33.3% of Labette County's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Chanute's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Labette County, their loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chanute will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Pittsburg on January 5, 2024. Pittsburg and Chanute are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. Labette County will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Fort Scott at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
