Softball Recap: Harper Takes a Loss

Harper was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Llano Yellowjackets, falling 10-3. If the Longhorns were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to them when the teams met back in March of 2021, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Kenna Herrmann was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-1. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March of 2024. Kaycee Hawkins also deserves some recognition as she hit her first hit of the season.

Even though they lost, Harper hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most two strikeouts in five consecutive matches.

Harper's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Llano, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Harper has already played their next game, a 4-4 draw against Edison on the 15th. As for Llano, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Comanche at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Llano is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
