Baseball Recap: Mead Comes Up Short

Mead extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 2-13 in the process. They lost 10-3 to the Gonzaga Prep Bullpups. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bullpups apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Mead saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaden Hentges, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI. Isaac Lewis also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

As for Gonzaga Prep, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by six runs or more this season.

On Gonzaga Prep's side, Cole Harvey looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Harvey has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one hit in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Gonzaga Prep got a massive performance out of Grant Yost, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits Yost has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Jaxon Buckner, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.

While Mead had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
