Basketball Recap: Crew Jorde's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mesquite over St. Mary's

Mesquite fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against St. Mary on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 67-54 to the St. Mary's Knights. The Wildcats have struggled against the Knights recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Crew Jorde, who went 7 for 10 en route to 20 points. Those 20 points gave Jorde a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kobe Bradley, who posted ten points and four steals.

Mesquite's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 8-9. As for St. Mary's, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-8 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Arcadia the next time they take the court. St. Mary's will host Arcadia at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Mesquite will host them at 7:00 p.m. on January 22nd.
