Baseball Game Preview: R.J. Reynolds Demons vs. Davie War Eagles

R.J. Reynolds is 1-9 against Davie since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Demons will head out on the road to square off against the War Eagles at 7:00 p.m.

Last Wednesday, R.J. Reynolds didn't have quite enough to beat Mount Tabor and fell 7-6. The Demons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Gavin Searcy was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3. He has become a key player for R.J. Reynolds: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 3-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Diego Socorro-Gomez, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Davie had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against Watauga on Saturday as they made off with an 8-2 win.

R.J. Reynolds' defeat dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Davie, their victory bumped their record up to 7-12.

R.J. Reynolds couldn't quite finish off Davie in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 and fell 5-3. Can the Demons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
