Baseball Recap: St. Thomas More Has No Trouble Against Kaukauna

St. Thomas More won the last time they faced Kaukauna and things went their way on Saturday too. The Cavaliers were the clear victors by a 10-4 margin over the Galloping Ghosts. The result was nothing new for the Cavaliers, who have now won four contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Evan Weckman tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits.

At the plate, Brody Alivo was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs. He is becoming a predictor of St. Thomas More's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-3 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Dodge, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

St. Thomas More was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The victory made it two in a row for St. Thomas More and bumps their season record up to 5-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Kaukauna, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-3.

Coming up, St. Thomas More will challenge St. Joseph at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lancers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Cavaliers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Kaukauna, they will square off against Waukesha North at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. The Northstars will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Galloping Ghosts surely won't give up without a fight.
