Basketball Recap: Mount De Sales Academy Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Caleb Linder and Jackson Rowley

Mount de Sales Academy lost against Gatewood back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Mount de Sales Academy Cavaliers lost 74-53 to the Gatewood Gators. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Cavaliers have suffered since February 15, 2024.

Jackson Rowley and Caleb Linder certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Rowley dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 boards, while Linder posted eight points and six rebounds. Mount de Sales Academy is undefeated when Rowley posts ten or more boards, but 2-3 otherwise.

Even though they lost, Mount de Sales Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in six consecutive contests.

It was another big night for Matt Allen, who went 18 of 38 on his way to 47 points in addition to six steals and five boards for Gatewood. Allen's evening made it 38 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaden Keiser, who had eight points and five steals.

Mount de Sales Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Gatewood, they pushed their record up to 9-2 with the win, which was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing First Presbyterian Day the next time they take the court. Gatewood will head out to face First Presbyterian Day at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Mount de Sales Academy will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
