Pope John Paul II unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 34-16 bruising from the Pearl River Central Blue Devils on Friday.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pearl River Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Titus Feaster, who rushed for 158 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries. Those 158 rushing yards gave Feaster a new career-high. Another back making a difference was Caden Hinton, who rushed for 115 yards and a pair of scores on only eight carries.
Pearl River Central has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.
Pope John Paul II wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 50-6 win against Varnado on the 12th. As for Pearl River Central, they have also already played their next match, a 50-21 victory against East Central on the 12th.
