Baseball Game Preview: La Salle Lancers vs. Loyola Cubs

La Salle is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Loyola is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Lancers will host the Cubs at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last six games La Salle has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

David Eriksson looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Andrew Klein, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Ian Wong, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Loyola has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.56 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They lost 11-0 to Mira Costa. The Cubs' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Loyola also got a good showing from Danny Portillo, who tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

La Salle's win bumped their record up to 13-5. As for Loyola, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 13-5.
