Baseball Game Preview: Mullen Mustangs vs. Cherokee Trail Cougars

For the second straight game, Mullen will face off against Cherokee Trail. The Mustangs will challenge the Cougars at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. Mullen is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.

On Thursday, Mullen didn't have quite enough to beat Cherokee Trail and fell 3-2.

For Cherokee Trail's part, Tate Carlson looked comfortable as he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Carlson has become a key player for the Cougars: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-13 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Landon Ellis, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Braden Anderson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

The win made it two in a row for Cherokee Trail and bumps their season record up to 8-14. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Mullen, their loss dropped their record down to 7-15.
