Basketball Recap: Zay Burton Key Part of a Team Effort in Lancers Win

Cambridge Christian lost to Sarasota Christian back in January of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Cambridge Christian Lancers put the hurt on the Sarasota Christian Blazers with a sharp 65-40 victory. The Lancers pushed the score to 52-30 by the end of the third, a deficit the Blazers had little chance of recovering from.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cambridge Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zay Burton, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. That's the most points Burton has posted since back in February of 2024. Caden Martinez was another key player, going 7 of 10 en route to 17 points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Cambridge Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Sarasota Christian lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Travis Miller, who went 6 for 14 on his way to 17 points and four steals. Miller is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Milliken, who posted six points.

Cambridge Christian's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-7. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points per game. As for Sarasota Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cambridge Christian has already played their next match (against Bradenton Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Sarasota Christian has also has no score uploaded for their next contest, this one against Out-of-Door Academy.
