Softball Recap: Hononegah Now 9-1 over Last Ten Games

Hononegah had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Jefferson on Thursday. The Indians put the hurt on the J-Hawks with a sharp 14-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won 12 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Samantha Nosbisch looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kaelyn Kelly was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alexis Eich, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three doubles, and one run.

Hononegah kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive contests.

Hononegah is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Jefferson, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-13.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Hononegah will face off against rival Belvidere at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Jefferson is set to challenge their familiar foe Rockford East at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
