Basketball Recap: South Delta Comes Up Short

South Delta was the 38-31 winner over Simmons when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The South Delta Bulldogs took a 57-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Simmons Blue Devils.

Simmons' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Akiah Prince led the charge by dropping a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds. Prince's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Vontasia Rush, who went 6 of 9 en route to 17 points.

South Delta has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Simmons, the win keeps them at an undefeated 14-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Delta will square off against Leland at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Simmons, they will face off against West Bolivar at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
