Softball Recap: Northgate Has No Trouble Against Acalanes

Northgate had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Acalanes on Thursday. The Broncos blew past the Dons 14-5. The result was nothing new for the Broncos, who have now won seven games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Mackenzie Hudson looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Addison Baxter was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. Jillian Neil was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Northgate kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are 9-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Northgate has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-10 record this season. As for Acalanes, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northgate will face off against Clayton Valley Charter at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Broncos' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Ugly Eagles have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season. As for Acalanes, they will challenge Alhambra at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
