Baseball Game Preview: Foothill Tech Dragons vs. Castaic Coyotes

The Foothill Tech Dragons will venture away from home to take on the Castaic Coyotes at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Castaic took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Foothill Tech, who comes in off a win.

Foothill Tech came out on top against Fillmore on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run third inning. The Dragons put the hurt on the Flashes with a sharp 8-1 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Dragons.

The team relied heavily on Davin Arth, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacory Smith, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Castaic entered their contest against San Fernando on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Coyotes fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Coyotes have suffered since May 2, 2025.

Castaic saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaleb Arnold, who went 2-for-3 with one run. Bryson Nieuwkoop also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Foothill Tech's record now sits at 2-0. As for Castaic, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

Foothill Tech came up short against Castaic in their previous meeting back in March of 2025, falling 4-0. Can the Dragons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
