Baseball Recap: Montague Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Montague entered their tilt with Western Michigan Christian on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 17-2 victory. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by six runs or more this season.

Caleb Rice made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Montague got a massive performance out of Cooper Bradley, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Bradley has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Fletcher Thommen, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI.

Montague always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .690. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Montague's record now sits at 17-4. As for Western Michigan Christian, they dropped their record down to 2-10 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Montague will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Warriors: the pair will be back at it again later today.
