Volleyball Game Preview: Athens Wildcats vs. Towanda Black Knights

The Athens Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Towanda Black Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Towanda took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Athens, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with five defeats in a row, Athens turned things around against Selinsgrove on Saturday. They blew past the Seals 3-0. The Wildcats not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since September 2nd (when they won 3-0).

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Athens took every set by at least ten points. The match finished with set scores of 25-10, 25-15, 25-5.

Meanwhile, Towanda was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Mountain View. While the Black Knights didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Eagles 25-17 in the first set.

Towanda wouldn't go down easily and took Mountain View into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking four-point loss. The final score came out to 17-25, 25-17, 25-20, 19-25, 15-11.

Towanda's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Athens, the win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-9-1.
