Basketball Game Preview: Fountain Valley Barons vs. South Spartans

Having just played yesterday, the Fountain Valley Barons will head out on the road to face off against the South Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Fountain Valley comes in on three and South on seven.

Fountain Valley's tournament run continued when they took on Centennial on Friday. Fountain Valley blew past Centennial, posting a 97-30 win. The Barons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 26 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, South didn't have too much trouble with Peninsula on Friday as they won 51-36. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 197th, while the Panthers are ranked 741st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

South pushed their record up to 14-5 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.7 points per game. As for Fountain Valley, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.
