Soccer Game Preview: Westminster vs. Pacifica

The Westminster Lions and the Pacifica Mariners will compete for holiday cheer at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

If Westminster beats Pacifica with four goals on Wednesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. The Lions walked away with a 4-2 victory over Century on Friday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Westminster's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked seventh, while Century are ranked 431st).

Meanwhile, Pacifica had to endure a seven-match losing streak, but that streak is no more. They and Costa Mesa finished up their matchup with a 1-1 draw on Monday.

Westminster's win bumped their record up to 7-0. Pacifica's draw makes their record 0-9-3 this season.

Westminster skirted past Pacifica 2-1 when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mariners turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
