Softball Recap: Desert Vista Extends Winning Streak to Three

Desert Vista put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Thatcher Eagles a 17-0 shutout. Fans of the Thunder have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Mckenzie Leitgen was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, seven RBI, and three runs. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jessa Rameriz, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3.

Desert Vista hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most three strikeouts in four consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Desert Vista's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Thatcher, they moved to 1-1 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Desert Vista wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 2-1 defeat against Tanque Verde on the 27th. As for Thatcher, they have also already played their next game, a 12-2 win against Flowing Wells on the 26th.
