Baseball Game Preview: Brunswick Blue Devils vs. Hudson Explorers

Brunswick is 0-3 against Hudson since May of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Blue Devils are taking a road trip to square off against the Explorers at 7:00 p.m. Brunswick is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.

On Thursday, Brunswick got the win against Elyria Catholic by a conclusive 15-1. The Blue Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Brunswick got a great performance from Kayden Draiss as he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. Draiss has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Alex Hubbell was a standout: he got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (three). Another player making a difference was Gavin Trush, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Brunswick was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .464. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Hudson fell victim to Norton and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 10-0 to the Panthers. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Explorers were not able to get on the board.

Brunswick's record now sits at 10-6. As for Hudson, their loss dropped their record down to 11-4.

Brunswick couldn't quite get it done against Hudson in their previous meeting back in April of 2023 as they fell 3-0. Can the Blue Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
