Baseball Game Preview: Hondo Owls vs. Falfurrias Fightin' Jerseys

The Hondo Owls will face off against the Falfurrias Fightin' Jerseys on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Hondo comes in on four and Falfurrias on three.

On Saturday, Hondo earned a 6-2 victory over Orange Grove.

Josiah Quintanilla made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Quintanilla wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Rudy Alvarado, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Meanwhile, Falfurrias was able to grind out a solid win over Hidalgo on Saturday, taking the game 7-3. That's two games straight that the Fightin' Jerseys have won by exactly four runs.

Andre Cisneros and RJ Ozuna did most of the damage at the plate: Cisneros got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one triple and two RBI, while Ozuna got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Derek Chavera was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Falfurrias' victory bumped their record up to 19-9-2. As for Hondo, their win bumped their record up to 18-5-1.
