Softball Recap: Canton Victorious

While Canton's win against Franklin wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Cobras sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 victory over the Patriots on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Cobras in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won four in a row.

Samantha Moore spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ryley Frank, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Rachel Aeck, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Canton's record is now 7-10. As for Franklin, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Canton will challenge Stevenson at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Franklin, they will square off against South Lyon at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Lions' pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so the Patriots' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
