Baseball Recap: Estrella Foothills Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Estrella Foothills entered their tilt with Peoria on Thursday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over the Panthers. Considering the Wolves have won four matches by more than 11 runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Jose Olivas was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. He has become a key player for Estrella Foothills: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-4 otherwise.

In other batting news, Brody Manley was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. He is becoming a predictor of Estrella Foothills' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-4 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Alec Schaeffer, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4.

Estrella Foothills kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Peoria only managed two hits.

Estrella Foothills pushed their record up to 6-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Peoria, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Coming up, Estrella Foothills will head out to face off against Cibola at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Estrella Foothills 4, Cibola 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Peoria, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cactus at 3:45 p.m. on Monday.
